How to add variety to your usual gaming routine

I’ve noticed lately that I keep choosing the same games over and over. On one hand, it’s convenient because I already know the rules and nuances, but on the other, it can get a bit boring. I’d like to mix things up without making any drastic changes. I think starting with games that share a similar format but feature a different theme or mechanic would be a good approach. How do you usually expand your gaming horizons? Do you start with similar options, or do you prefer switching categories entirely? I’d love to hear what methods have helped you discover interesting new games without a long, drawn-out search.

To add variety to your usual choices, I wouldn't recommend switching formats completely right away. It’s much easier to start with games that have familiar mechanics but differ in theme, design, or extra features. This makes for a smooth transition, and once you’re comfortable, you can try something entirely new. I like to browse different categories from time to time and save the options that catch my eye. Then, when I have some free time, I can go back to that list and pick something new to try out. Another great strategy is to check out other games from the same developer if you’ve already enjoyed one of their titles. Sometimes, this allows you to find several options with a similar style but different gameplay. You don’t have to try everything—just pick a few of the most interesting ones and compare your impressions over time. Gradually, your list of favorites grows, and your choices become much more exciting. That said, I think it’s important not to view new games solely as a way to make a profit. It’s better to set a comfortable budget in advance, manage your time, and choose only the games you genuinely want to play for fun.
